The UH-Hilomen’s soccer team will host its Summer 2024 ID Camp on Aug. 17 at the Vulcan Soccer Field. The camp is open to current high school athletes and athletes aged 18–23 who aspire to play at the NCAA Division II level.
Instructed by the Vulcans coaching staff composed of acting head coach Diego Marroquin and assistant coaches Terry Yamane and Steve Petner, the one-day event spanning 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. exposes participants to collegiate-level training sessions focusing on speed, agility and quickness, technical instruction, small-sided games and 11-on-11 along with a campus tour and college talk.

Big Dog fun run slated for Monday
Sunrise Athletics’ annual Wayne “Big Dog” Joseph Fun Run will be held at 8 a.m. on Monday (May 27) at Coconut Island in Hilo.
Registration will begin at 7 a.m., and participants can choose to take part in either a 5k or a 0.75 mile walk/run.
After the events, checks will be presented to the winners of the 2024 Wayne Joseph Scholarship — Mia Lavarias, Daphne Igloria, Micah Tajiri, Malia Hill and Kahiau Poe.
The event is free, but donations are also welcomed.
Pitch, hit and run contest coming soon
The MLB Pitch, Hit, &Run skills competition will be hosted by the Nobu Yamauchi RBI Organization on June 2, 2024 at Walter Victor Pony field.
The event is open to Boys and Girls ages 7 -14. Registration will be held from 8:00 to 8:30 or participants may also register on the QR code. Skills for baseball &softball includes, pitching, batting off a tee, and running. Skills will start after registration. The baseball and softball division ages are 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14.
